By Linda Kor A Snowflake/Taylor patrol car got “hung up” enroute to a call after officers responded to a burglary call reported at 7:13 a.m. on Thursday, June 4. According to the Snowflake Police Department, an officer on scene was engaged with the suspect, Joseph Alvarez, 19, who was allegedly armed with a metal pipe and a large rock, and charging and threatening the officer. A back up officer was enroute when his patrol car caught loose gravel on a sharp turn where road ends and veers 90 degrees right, causing it to fish tail and ultimately slide into the “guy wires” by the road. He was forced to leave the vehicle behind and run the rest of the way to the scene where the suspect was apprehended. There was no damage done to the power pole and the patrol vehicle sustained minor damage. Alvarez was arrested for criminal damage/domestic violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and threatening and intimidating. He was booked into the Navajo County Jail.
