The Snowflake Town Council unanimously approved a public non-motorized trail revocable license agreement to create a 15-foot-wide and approximately 3.6-mile biking and walking trail system around Snowflake for the community to enjoy.
The proposed trail affects four property owners including Rimrock Gravel LLC, Brimhall Sand & Rock, Mark Flake and Copperstate Farms Properties LLC. All the property owners have signed off on the agreement and the town is able to proceed with the planning process.
Snowflake Town Manager, Brian Richards, estimates the cost of the trail to be $20,000 or less. Richards said, “Certain areas (of the trail) will be improved and certain areas will not be improved.” There have been some offers from volunteers to help provide labor and some local businesses have indicated an interest in donating funds to cut the cost of the project.” Richards believes it will be a really good amenity for the area.
The town hopes to establish an interconnected trail system throughout Snowflake and this is the first step in creating that.
The agreement term is for one year and automatically renews annually unless one or more of the property owners provide written notice to the town not to renew at least 360 days before the end of the current agreement term.
