The Snowflake Taylor Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet on April 4. Attendees were treated to a delicious steak and chicken dinner in an event sponsored by Carriage House and The Morning Rose.
Members of the chamber nominated local businesses and the chamber board narrowed those to three nominees in each category. “We looked at who was nominated, who was active with our chamber and the faces we see at our events,” said Chamber Executive Director Charlotte Hatch. Each chamber member then voted for their choices out of the nominees. There were two other categories recognizing service to the community.
Local businessman, Terril Kay, was presented with the Businessman of the Year Award, as well as the Large Business of the Year Award for All Custom Exteriors. Businesswoman of the Year was awarded to Francis Valdez and she accepted the Small Business of the Year Award for Emalee’s Carniceria.
Black Diamond Auto Glass won the Medium Business of the Year Award. Local mental health care provider ChangePoint Integrated Health received the Non-Profit of the Year Award.
The Shining Star awards were presented to two residents who consistently serve the community, Dr. Chad Brimhall and Andie McDowell. Dr. Brimhall organizes efforts to keep area school grounds clean and Andie McDowell works to encourage literacy as librarian of the local library. This is just to name a few of the projects these community members work on.
The President’s Award was presented to Sarah Brimhall. Brimhall works tirelessly with the Snowflake Heritage Foundation helping to preserve local history. Special recognition was given to John and Bev Kay for their efforts in working with the chamber and always providing catering for special chamber events. When John and Bev Kay cater chamber events it is widely known that the meal will be beyond delicious. They were presented with the Golden Apron Award.
Outgoing chamber president, Patti Matyas, was honored with the President’s Award for her dedication to the chamber in a variety of capacities over a nearly 30 year period.
The Executive Director Award was presented to the Silver Creek Herald. “That is probably the best paper in our community. We appreciate you and you are a big supporter of our chamber,” said Hatch about the hometown newspaper. Newspaper owner and publisher, Matthew Barger, took to the stage to accept the award.
The chamber is always looking for additional members and has an ambassador program for existing members to help reach future members. Please visit www.snowflaketaylorchamber.org for more information.
