The Snowflake Town Council approved changes to the services agreement with the Town of Taylor June 13.

The changes were made to simplify the current agreements between the two towns, which share fire, ambulance and police services, and will now include library services located in Snowflake, combining them into one agreement and changing the renewal of the agreement from every three years to every year.

The Taylor Town Council approved the agreement the week before.

Councilman Terril Kay expressed concern regarding the division of costs between the two towns for the services, stating that he believed it should be a 50/50 cost share.

It was noted that the percentages that divide the cost for those services is based on population data, indicating that Snowflake has a higher population and as such receives more of the services. That is why the town pays 58 percent for fire and ambulance, and 55 percent for policing compared to Taylor’s 42 and 45 percent, respectively.

Despite Kay’s concerns he voted in favor of the agreement, making it a unanimous vote with all council members present.
