Audrey Kay McKinnis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in Snowflake. She passed peacefully at home on the 51st anniversary of the day she gave her life to Jesus Christ, accepting His gift of salvation and eternal life. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 22, at the Valley View Baptist Church, 1212 W. Main St. in Snowflake. She was born Aug. 9, 1940, to Orville and Edith Cundiff in Ayrshire, Iowa. Later, her family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where she attended Storm Lake High School, graduating in 1959. On Feb. 11, 1961, she married Francis Leroy “Mac” McKinnis; together they had three sons. She and Mac attended Bible study on March 14, 1966, where they each called on Jesus Christ to forgive their sins and to be their Lord and Savior. Audrey wanted others to know about Jesus Christ. Whether she was talking with family or friends, she advised them to “trust in the Lord–He wants you to know.” She was concerned about strangers, advising them in the same way. She offered them a little green booklet telling them, “Each person has a choice to make.” Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Francis Leroy “Mac” McKinnis; three sons, Scott (Sharon) McKinnis of Arizona, James McKinnis of Montana and Thomas McKinnis; three grandchildren, Kaylee (Ricky) Kauffman, Marcus McKinnis and Moriah McKinnis; two great-grandchildren, Sierra Kauffman and Aurora Kauffman; and four sisters, Barbara (William) Pewsey of Iowa, Lynda (Robert) Hay of Georgia, Marie (Roger) Rudstrom of Minnesota and Kathleen Cundiff of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother; her brother, Sherman Cundiff; and her sister, Wanda Boettcher. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
