The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the find of human remains east of Snowflake. At approximately 6:11 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, deputies responded to the area of Hay Hollow Wash and Morgan Lane regarding a human skull that some hikers had discovered. The following morning, detectives and Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteer (SAV) searchers canvassed the area and discovered several bones, portions of bone chips and various items of clothing. According to Chief Deputy James Molesa, preliminary findings indicate that the subject is a white male who has been deceased for approximately two years, but there was no apparent cause of death. Detectives are in the process of linking missing person reports with clothing descriptions as well as a time element to aid in the identification of the deceased. Positive identification of the remains, along with the cause and manner of death, will be made by the Navajo County Medical Examiner’s Office.
