Last Wednesday was the filing deadline for candidates for the Snowflake and Taylor town councils, and area residents will have plenty of hopefuls to choose from.
Candidates filing for seats on the Snowflake Town Council include incumbents Byron Lewis, Kerry Ballard and Stuart Hensley, as well as LeAnne Morris and Allison Perkins. Councilman Lynn Johnson chose to seek election as mayor. Mayor Tom Poscharsky will also be challenged by Hunter Lewis.
Candidates who filed for seats on the Taylor Town Council include Mayor John Fay Hatch and Shawn Palmer. They will be joined on the ballot by Sandy Stewart, Bill Baldwin, Kyle Peck and Velma Perkins. Only Councilman Gary Solomon chose not to run again.
If the number of candidates needed to fill the vacant seats do not receive 50 percent plus one vote during the primary election, the names of the top two vote getters for each open seat will be on the Nov. 8 general election.
