The Snowflake Town Council unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement last week with Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for a federal aid project on East Snowflake Blvd.
Public Works Superintendent Terry Cooper explained that in June 2015, the council authorized town staff members to submit the mill and overlay project on East Snowflake Boulevard to ADOT’S Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). This project qualifies for federal funds and has been approved by ADOT.
Cooper explained that the town will be required to pay a 5.7 percent match for the design and construction of this project. Currently there is a $200,000 budget for design and a $538,413 budget for construction. The town will be required to pay $11,400 for its portion of the design and $30,690 for construction for total amount of $42,090 for the project.
Cooper anticipates the project construction will begin in fiscal year 2019.
“The process is very slow,” said Cooper, noting that they just received the agreement from ADOT.
