The City of Winslow has welcomed two distinguished individuals to its leadership team, heralding a new era for the city’s public safety departments.
Fire Chief Michael Duran, a seasoned veteran in the field, retired from the Sedona Fire District on Tuesday, Sept. 5, after an illustrious 20-year tenure. Duran’s arrival in Winslow was marked by symbolism, as he officially took on his new role on Sept. 11, a day forever etched in American history. On his first day, Chief Duran participated in several 9/11 commemorative ceremonies, emphasizing the gravity of his role as the city’s Fire Chief.
In the realm of law enforcement, the City of Winslow has also secured a leader in Police Chief Kevin Treadway. Chief Treadway retired from his position as Chief of Police in Flagstaff in 2020, capping a remarkable 34-year career in law enforcement. In his new role as Director of Police Operations, Chief Treadway will oversee crucial aspects of police operations as the city conducts a nationwide search for a new Chief of Police.
Chief Treadway expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I look forward to working with the Winslow Police Department and this fine community.” His vast experience in law enforcement and his commitment to community engagement promise to enhance public safety initiatives within the city.
The City of Winslow is eager to witness the positive impact that these distinguished leaders will bring to their respective departments. Both Chief Duran and Chief Treadway bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a shared commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Winslow’s residents. Both of them have long histories in their fields while working in northern Arizona and their appointments mark an exciting chapter in the city’s ongoing efforts to provide top-tier public safety services to its community.
