Winslow has had quite a bit of work going on regarding its Renaissance projects, which have had crews renovating streets west of town on old Highway 66, constructing sidewalk and curbs and gutters in that area, as well as installing lighting. Work on this project is going fairly rapidly, and Winslow residents and visitors will soon have a good area to walk or ride bicycles where that type of exercise was difficult before.
There is also quite a bit of work going on in private sector ventures, according to a recent report to the city council by City Inspector Marshall Larson.
Larson reported that there has been quite a large amount of work happening at the Flying J/Pilot Travel Center. An underground diesel fuel exhaust tank and piping are being installed there, and a new truck scale is being constructed. A new truck repair building will be constructed where the old scale was.
In another city project, drywall is being hung at the Little League Concession building. Work is still progressing on that and the adjacent Vargas Field projects. Both projects still have work to be done.
Winslow staff has been contacted regarding plans for construction of a building on Mike’s Pike near the Dollar General Store.
Walmart is installing a new roof mounted solar system.
The Little Colorado Medical Center has had the contractor work on the oxygen and generator for the emergency room construction. That work is close to complete, and construction of the new addition can begin as soon as that is the case.
Several buildings have been demolished and debris cleaned up from a fire that destroyed a trailer. At least one other building has been planned for demolition in the near future.
