William Thompson
William “Danny” Thompson passed away Nov. 17, 2021, in Mesa. He became critically ill while visiting family in Winslow and attending a class reunion.
Danny was born in Winslow in September 1942, the last baby born in the old hospital, now home to the city offices. He was the first of four children born to N.D. and Lucille Thompson. Danny was educated in the Winslow school system, graduating in 1960. While in high school, he participated in band, football, basketball and baseball.
Danny attended and graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree and was studying for a Master’s degree when he was drafted into the US Army. After completing his service time, he married and settled in the Boston, Massachusetts, area and resided there until his death.
Survivors are Julie, his loving wife of 50 years; his brother, David Thompson and wife, Jerri; his sisters, Carol Hairrell and Kathryn Mullery and husband, Ed; three nephews, four nieces and many cousins also survive.
