Yá’át’ééh, my name is Roberta Wilcox Cano and I am running for mayor in Winslow. I was born and raised in Winslow and enjoyed small-town life, making friends, attending Little League games, and swimming in the creek. Through the years, I was fortunate to have participated in community events and cultural gatherings that gave me a strong sense of community and diversity. After graduating high school as a proud Winslow Bulldog, I moved away, enjoyed life, and eventually started work with the Department of Corrections in Yuma. I did not hesitate at the chance to transfer home, so my children could have similar experiences as I did, building a strong connection to the culture and diversity that we enjoy in our community. After 17 years with the state, I began working for the City of Winslow. My experience at the city is enjoyable and gives me insight into areas where we can improve our service and make a better Winslow for everyone in the community.
