The Winslow Woman’s Club will hold a barbecue for the troops from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the Winslow Visitors Center, located at 523 W. Second St. A meal of barbecued pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and beans will be available to go for $7. The funds received will be divided between the United Service Organizations (USO) Fund and the Woman’s Club for club functions. The event will also feature an Honor Garden with tin cans decorated in red, white and blue, and filled with sand. For $1, a flag or ribbon can be purchased to insert into the can and you may write the name of a veteran on it. The can will be available for pick up at the end of the day.
