Last week, the Winslow Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly Good Morning Winslow with presentations from the chamber and the Standin’ On The Corner Foundation with representative Sabrina Butler providing information on the upcoming festival.
Butler stated, “This year, our vendor space is completely full and we have a wide variety of arts and crafts, souvenirs and food. It has been a couple of years since all of the spots were full and we are excited to share what we have been working on with you.”
She also mentioned the return of the Kids Zone to the Standin’ On The Corner event. This year, kids will have the opportunity to participate in carnival type games presented by the Winslow High School Student Council.
The Standin’ On The Corner Festival begins at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 and continues through Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Eagle Pavilion, located at 523 W. Second Street.
It will feature a variety of musical entertainment, a beer garden, live auction and horseshoe and cornhole tournaments along with the Kids Zone.
Admission to the event is $7 on Friday and $10 on Saturday when the doors open at 11 a.m. Kids 12 and under are free. More information can be found on the Standin’ On The Corner Foundation Facebook page or by visiting www.standinonthecorner.org.
Attendees of Good Morning Winslow were also presented with information from Chamber CEO Bob Hall.
Hall spoke about the upcoming Winslow Christmas Parade to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 in downtown Winslow.
This year, the parade celebrates its 75th year with the theme, “Picture This, Christmas, 1947.” The chamber board has chosen long time Winslow resident Ida Hunt to serve as the grand marshal of the parade. Hunt recently celebrated her 104th birthday.
Applications to participate in the parade are located on the City of Winslow website at www.winslowaz.gov and the deadline for entries is Nov. 17.
As is protocol at Good Morning Winslow, attendees were then invited to make announcements of other upcoming events.
Kristy Armijo of Little Colorado Medical Center (LCMC) began by informing the crowd of the upcoming annual cancer walk. The 5K event is sponsored by LCMC and will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Little Colorado Physicians Office, located at 200 E. Lee St.
