Obit Castillo Tony

Tony Castillo passed away Aug. 27, 2024, at the age of 94. Tony was born on Feb. 21, 1930, in Socorro, N.M.

Tony married the love of his life, Frances Castillo in 1948. They were married for just shy of 60 years until the time of her passing in 2008. He was a lifelong resident of Holbrook where they lived and raised their family. Tony worked for Holbrook Unified Schools for 32 years until he retired in 1992.

Tony loved his family, and he loved the game of baseball which he watched daily after many years of playing baseball himself. He also loved his church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church in Holbrook, which he was a very active member in. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and if you ever attended mass, you always saw him serving as an usher every Sunday. He enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns and spending time with his kids and his many grandchildren.

Tony is an inspiration to anyone that was lucky enough to know him. He truly lived his faith and was the best example of a father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother and son that anyone could ever strive to be. He truly lived an exemplary life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Jerry Castillo (Carol), Susan Lenertz (Richard) and Vera Young; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Julian and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife, Frances; two brothers and one sister.
