Taylor Town Manager Gus Lundberg offered an update on the planned Walmart store after meeting with Walmart Superintendent John Souser of Kingman last week. Souser had just returned from South Carolina, where Walmart built two neighborhood stores.
The Walmart project manager and project engineer were in Taylor to check the site and the construction trailer is being set up.
“In about two weeks, it will be full steam ahead,” said Lundberg.
Walmart awarded the contract for the Taylor store to MW Builders, a national contractor with offices in Kansas and Texas. There were nine bidders, including one from Arizona.
Lundberg noted that the building permit is ready, but had not been picked up as of July 2.
The Taylor Walmart will not include a hair salon, tire store or McDonald’s restaurant.
