Lundberg stepped the council through the benefits of approving the agreement. “About a year ago, we started discussing getting our Fourth of July rodeo into the correct vehicle that would give us the ability to put on the show, bring in the money and cover the liability issues.”

The result of that discussion was the creation of Taylor Rodeo, Inc., a non-profit group that will use the rodeo ground facilities to put on the rodeo, while maintaining the necessary insurance and monitoring the alcohol and tobacco use at the facilities.

The town will provide the equipment including the tractor and water truck for the arena care. Lundberg also noted that the town will pay for port-a-potties and trash as well as the fireworks display at the end of the rodeo.

“We will turn over the $40,000 that was brought in by the rodeo to Taylor Rodeo, Inc.,” continued Lundberg. “Moving forward the town will give a $5,000 sponsorship and be named the main sponsor. Taylor Rodeo Inc. will be in charge of setting and collecting fees as well as getting sponsorships. There is a way for this agreement to terminate, which we hope it doesn’t.”
