Sylvia R. Clark passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015, with her daughter present, in her home. She had been suffering from Parkinson’s and Grave’s Disease for the past several years, but always kept her sense of humor and support of her loved ones. She was the oldest of three children born to Warren H. and Ruth I. Rock on Jan. 16, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio. She spent her childhood in Cleveland, until the Rocks moved to Flagstaff, where she graduated from high school that same year. She had a love for traveling, which was met by her spouse’s employment with the National Park Service. She and her family moved to Petrified Forest National Park in 1983, until relocating to Holbrook shortly thereafter. In Holbrook she eventually went on to enjoy employment at McGee’s Trading Post and embraced Native American cultures. In later years she relocated to the Village of Oak Creek, near Sedona. She found employment at Telaquepaque’s Gold Door in Sedona, where she successfully learned about, and worked with, exquisite jewelry. Most recently, she lived one day at a time, while enjoying being Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend. Survivors include her daughter, Rise’ E. Walker of Holbrook; her grandson, Carson Phillips and family of Clarkdale; her son, Douglas Patterson of Sandy, Utah; her grandson, Devon Slay of Phoenix; her sister, Ryna Stephens of Camp Verde; her brother, Tyrone Rock of the Village of Oak Creek; and numerous other family members. A memorial service is planned at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at her sister’s residence, located at 2990 N. Shady Lane, in Camp Verde. A “bring a dish” potluck will follow the memorial. Please RSVP to Rise’ at (928) 241-8483 by Thursday, Sept. 10.
