On May 14, a Navajo County Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 at milepost 273 near Joseph City. During the traffic stop, K-9 Zolton was deployed to perform a free air sniff of the vehicle, which he gave a positive alert. A search of the vehicle revealed over 13 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $625,000. Luis Fernando Chavez, 28, and Oscar Jimenez, 37, both of Calif., were arrested for transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, and possession of a narcotic drug. Both men were booked into the Navajo County Jail.
