A Sanders man is being sought by law enforcement personnel across the state after two bodies were found last Saturday in a Sanders home. According to the Apache County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the home at 7:54 p.m. on July 1 after receiving a request for a welfare check. Family members were concerned after several phone calls to the elderly couple residing at the home went unanswered. Deputies made a forced entry into the home after discovering a bedroom window, which appeared to be damaged by gunfire. Inside the home they discovered Robert Sorensen, 81, and Martha Sorensen, 75, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Based on investigative leads and witness accounts, Garry B. Wilckens, 51, has been identified as a person of interest in the Sorensens’ deaths. Wilckens reportedly fled the area. His last known whereabouts were Queen Creek on July 2. He may be attempting to flee the United States into Mexico. The ACSO is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Wilckens. Officials believe that there exists a likelihood of substantial harm to the public, so they urge that no one approach Wilckens, as he may be armed and/or dangerous. If you have information about this case or Wilckens’ location, call local law enforcement or the Apache County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-352-1850 or (928) 337-4321.
