At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, the Winslow Police Department received a call reporting a suspicious vehicle parked at the Circle K, located at 323 N. Williamson Ave. in Winslow. When officers arrived, they found a 2017 black four door Kia Forte that had been reported stolen out of Flagstaff. The vehicle at that time was unoccupied but witnesses advised a male suspect later identified as Tito K. Benally, 29, of Flagstaff, had been in possession of the vehicle and parked it at Circle K earlier that day. At approximately 8:06 a.m. that same day, the Winslow Police Department received information that Benally had returned to Circle K and was currently at that location. Benally was detained by officers and eventually placed under arrest after evidence found during the investigation showed Benally’s involvement in the vehicle theft. Benally was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana and was booked into the Navajo County jail.
