On Wednesday, Sept. 21, Navajo County Sheriff’s Office detectives and deputies executed a search warrant at the 7800 block of Rapture Road in Sun Valley and arrested John Serna, 55, of Sun Valley who has been charged with 18 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and 21 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and Diana Serna, 54, of Sun Valley who has been charged with five counts of sexual conduct with a minor and five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Both were booked into the Navajo County Jail and are being held on a no bond hold. The arrests came after a lengthy investigation by detectives, where it was learned that there were sexual encounters involving the Sernas and a minor child under the age of 18 and that the crimes continued until the victim moved out of state in 2021. Evidence was obtained that indicated both John and Diana were involved sexually with the victim. Sheriff David Clouse stated, “I am proud of the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and all the work they do to protect the vulnerable underage victims of this county. Our detectives will always take these calls seriously, as children’s safety is a top priority within Navajo County. If you know anyone who is living in an abusive situation, please call the local authorities. Thank you for the work of this detective team and help bring justice to the victim and family. There is no place in our society for those who abuse children.”
