As of Aug. 14, there have been 5,446 COVID-19 cases in Navajo County. The Little Colorado Medical Center continues to treat COVID patients in its emergency department, hospital and clinic. Over the past five days, LCMC administered 116 tests, four of which were positive. At present, LCMC is caring for nine inpatients and two COVID-positive patients. LCMC continues to closely monitor its supplies, with particular focus on surgical gowns and surgical masks. Through testing and collaboration with the district board and staff, LCMC continues to support Winslow School District and the community to facilitate a safe return to the school experience for students, faculty and staff. To date, Summit Healthcare facilities have completed over 5,000 COVID-19 tests. Summit Healthcare is seeing a decline in COVID-19 inpatient cases, but asks that the public please continue to wear masks, social distance and wash hands. Summit’s inpatient bed availability on medical/surgical and intensive care units (ICU) is 90, including currently open surge beds. As of Aug. 14, the total number of inpatients in medical/surgical and ICU beds at Summit Healthcare is 58, with five of them being COVID-19 positive or suspected patients. Navajo County Public Health District case numbers have been trending lower but there is still risk of exposure to COVID throughout Arizona and Navajo County. Residents are being asked to continue to do their part to limit the spread to make a safer environment for students to return to school. Stay home if sick, maintain physical distancing and wear a face covering when that isn’t possible.
