Shella Martha Bateman passed away on March 1, 2018, at her home in Shumway. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Silver Creek Stake Center in Taylor, followed by funeral service at 12 p.m. and interment will be at the Shumway Cemetery. Shella was born on Oct. 17, 1938, to Alfred and Arvilla Anderson. Shella was born and raised in Pomerene. She married Ron Bateman on Sept. 11, 1959. They had seven children and raised six. They lived in Arizona, California, Utah, Idaho and Oregon before returning back to Arizona. Shella was a wonderful homemaker and worked the ranch with Ron. She loved to cook and care for everyone. In later years, Shella loved to travel with her friends. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Shella is survived by her husband, Ron Bateman; children, Paula Lopez, Brenda (Tim) Kuchar, Ronda (Lonnie) Lopez, Cinda (Chris) Farrer, Ronny Bateman and Justin (Tricia) Bateman; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Shella was preceded in death by her infant son, Timothy; her parents; five siblings; and a son-in-law. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled the arrangements.
