Santos Michael Montoya, age 67, of Winslow, passed away on July 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Nov. 1, 1957, in Winslow, he was the beloved son of Frank T. Montoya and Sadie Cordero Montoya. Santos was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his children, including Santos Montoya Jr. (Jamie Montoya) and Joseph Montoya (Nikki Gaines); seven grandchildren, Damian Montoya (Cassandra), Starlayna Montoya (Taylor), Santos Montoya III, Benedict Aiteaga, Jordan Montoya, Gabriella Montoya and JolieCianna Baca; great-grandchild, Santos Montoya IV; siblings, Patsy Poleheptewa (Vernon), Darlene Rubianes (Raymond), Annette Baca (Amador), Katie Gutierrez, Rudy Montoya (Dodie) and Ruby Carson (Robert).
He was known for his big heart, sense of humor, and outgoing spirit. A true “Mr. Fix-It,” Santos was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. To know him was to love him, and his kindness and generosity touched many lives.
Santos is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Maryjane Tapia; his parents, Frank T. Montoya and Sadie Cordero Montoya; and his siblings, Fred Montoya, Leo Ronald Montoya, Sadie Montoya, Magdalena Montoya and Guadalupe Montoya. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Greer’s Mortuary. Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, July 15, at Madre de Dios Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at 8:45 a.m., on Wednesday, July 16, at Desert View Cemetery.
