The Roadrunners went 1-2 in three home games last week. They fell to St. Johns Monday, then dropped a closer game to Blue Ridge on Tuesday, before picking up a win over rival Winslow on Friday.

Monday’s game with St. Johns started poorly, with the Redskins leading 8-1 through the first four innings. St. Johns put the game out of reach with 6 more runs in the fifth and ended the game early with the 15-2 win.

Holbrook was held to just five hits in the loss. Baler Reidhead went 2 for 3. Ben Eisele was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Justin Maestas went 1 for 3.

Tildyn Larsen, Lukai Frenette, and Eisele combined to pitch five innings. Collectively, they gave up 15 runs on 13 hits with 5 strikeouts and walked 3 batters.

Tuesday’s game with Blue Ridge started better, with the Birds holding a 1-0 lead through two innings. They fell behind after the Yellowjackets scored 8 runs through the fifth frame, which eventually led to a 9-2 Holbrook loss.

Winslow came to town for a cold game. With the weather closing in, Holbrook was able to pull out a 9-5 win through six innings, when the game was called due to weather making the field unplayable.

Maestas went 2 for 4 with a double. Espitia went 3 for 4 with a double. Frenette was 1 for 4 with a double. Larson went 1 for 3; Reidhead, 1 for 2; Eisele, 2 for 4; and Stefan Trujillo went 1 for 3.

Reidhead pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts. Frenette worked the final two outs, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits with 1 strikeout.

Holbrook was ranked 24th prior to Friday’s win over Winslow. They have three regular-season games left. They will travel to Show Low on Tuesday then will be in Snowflake on Saturday afternoon. Holbrook’s final game will be at home next Monday when they host Alchesay. If they can finish inside the top 24 in the final rankings, they will advance to the 3A play-in games. Holbrook is currently 6-7 in regular-season games. They are 11-13 overall.
