Last September the Navajo County Board of Supervisors awarded J. Banicki Construction of Phoenix the contract to repair the Woodruff Bridge that spans nearly 120 feet across the Little Colorado River just south of Woodruff.

The project, which started in late October, is now just days away from completing the final step of pouring the concrete deck. J. Banicki Construction Project Manager Dustin Krapf said, tentatively, the pour date is set for this week. However, due to the inclement weather the region has been experiencing, Krapf said they had not finalized those plans.

Krapf noted that the project has gone well. “For being 100 years old, the bridge was fine,” he said. “During the retrofitting process we had a few things that required us to regroup but nothing out of the ordinary for this type of project.”

Right now, Krapf said they are shooting a reopening of the bridge in mid-March.
