The Petrified Forest NP will be changing its entrance fee from $20 to $25 per vehicle, starting Jan. 1. According to park officials, 80 percent of the money collected remains in the park and goes towards projects to improve visitor experience. The remaining 20 percent is spent on projects in other National Park units that either don’t charge a fee or don’t collect enough fee revenue to complete the needed projects. In a National Park this size with roads, infrastructure, visitor service and protection of the resources to consider, the revenue collected from the entrance fees goes to good use.
