The City of Winslow is working with the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority (NAIPTA, Flagstaff) to develop a transit plan for the region, making recommendations on transit opportunities within Winslow, and to and from other communities in northern Arizona. An initial survey was mailed to all utility bill addresses and promoted via social media. In addition, the project team met with the representatives of several Winslow businesses to gain a better understanding of travel and work patterns. Based on the information gathered from the initial survey, a follow-up survey was developed to more finely hone the public interest in and need for transit. The City of Winslow and NAIPTA officials will hold an open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at the Winslow Visitors Center, located at 523 W. Second St., where residents of Winslow and the surrounding communities can learn more about the service options, share their mobility needs with the city and be part of the input that will go into the final plan. Based on the survey results and community input, a final plan will be developed and considered by the Winslow City Council in September. The Winslow Transit Plan is funded by a planning grant from the Arizona Department of Transportation and the city.
