Olivia Padilla Martinez
Olivia Padilla Martinez, 91, a resident of Winslow, passed away at home on Dec. 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Olivia was born on Feb. 6, 1928, in Winslow, the daughter of Melecio and Rafaelita Padilla. Paternal granddaughter of Juan Nicanor Padilla and Maria Jesusita Padilla. Maternal granddaughter of Juan Gonzales and Dolores Sandoval Gonzales.
She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, camping in the forest, playing Bunco and getaways to Laughlin for relaxation. She was highly skilled at crocheting. Her greatest joy was her family. In her final hour, her family surrounded her with their love and sorrow … and let her go when the Lord called.
Her beloved husband of 78 years, Demesio S. Martinez passed away Feb. 16, 2019.
She will be remembered by her two children, Dolores Renfro and her husband Lewis and Margaret Guzman and her husband Alfonso; six grandchildren, Rickey (Molly) Jackson, Christine (Charles) Berton, Ronnie Jackson, Larry (Madeleine) Silva, Lisa (Carlos) Rios and Mariah (Steffen) Bailon; 14 great-grandchildren, Armando, Lindsey, Ciara, Hannah, Phillip, Christian, Ryan, Emily, Illeana, Isaiah, Joseph, Marina, Aliyah and Steffen; one great-great-grandchild, Lily; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Demesio Sanchez Martinez; parents, Melecio and Rafaelita Padilla; three brothers, Pablo Padilla, Juan N. Padilla and Antonio Padilla; two sisters, Elsira Padilla Castanon and Dolores Padilla Lopez; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Bianca.
