In a special meeting on May 21 following a Truth in Taxation (TNT) public hearing, the Navajo County Community College District Governing Board opted to not invoke the maximum tax increase available, instead voting to keep the taxation rate unchanged from the prior year at $1.8164, which was 1.5 percent above the TNT rate of $1.7899.

The TNT rate did not take into account new construction or reevaluation of property, which resulted in a lower rate $1.7899. By keeping the current tax rate flat with last year, Northland Pioneer College (NPC) will see an increase of approximately $225,592 in tax revenues.

Vice President for Administrative Services Maderia Ellison gave the presentation to the board, during which she noted, “Historically in the last 10 years we have gone to the maximum in the earlier years. In 2013-14 we did the TNT amount as opposed to the maximum. From there until 2018-19, we have done the maximum amount.”
