Northland Pioneer College’s Silver Creek Campus office will not be closing, according to NPC President Jeanne Swarthout and Vice President for Administrative Services Blaine Hatch.

Dr. Swarthout clarified that there were temporary contracts given for a short-term basis that are coming to an end. “Some will be extended, and we are also preparing to post a position for a facilities coordinator for the Silver Creek Campus, which is the equivalent of the campus manager,” she said.

The Silver Creek Campus will continue to offer face-to-face classes for courses such as English 101, and distance learning classes will continue.

Swarthout explained that the library staff has contracts until Dec. 31, because that is the way the board laid it out. Extending those contracts will depend on further decisions of the board.

Work continues on the facility use study, and results will be reported to the board following its completion, which is anticipated around the first part of September, said Hatch.

Swarthout said she anticipates the board will need time to discuss and study the results of that study before decisions are made.
