It’s been over a month since the disappearance of 16-year-old Jarrett Brooks from his Joseph City home and to date there has been no leads in the case. The parents, Brian and Laura Brooks, reported that Jarrett had run away from their home on the morning of July 4, taking only a handgun. Jarrett, the middle of seven children, has no history of behavioral problems and according to the family, he is a typical happy, fun-loving boy.

Hundreds of tips have been submitted online and to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, all leading nowhere. According to NCSO Public Information Officer Tori Gordan, to date there has been no confirmed sighting of Jarrett since July 4.

Two weeks ago, the Brooks’ home was searched by NCSO detectives. Gorman stated, “The detectives investigation led them to the family’s residence, Jarrett’s last known location, in attempts to find leads on Jarrett’s whereabouts and information surrounding his disappearance. The search of the family’s residence does not imply that the parents are persons of interest.” When asked why it took so long for the search of the home to be conducted, the reply from NCSO was that in order to keep the integrity of an open investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will not discuss details.

With no leads, detectives have started back to where Jarrett was last seen at his home and are now working forward. The report by the Brooks that Jarrett was observed by a neighbor crossing his fields on the morning of his disappearance is also being investigated by NCSO.

The Sheriff’s Office is still seeking information from the public on any sightings or information on the boy’s whereabouts. The public is asked to only utilize vetted sources such as the Sheriff’s Office social media for information. Jarrett is described as having blonde hair and brown eyes, he’s 6’ tall and weighs 140 lbs. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Jarrett is asked to contact the NCSO Dispatch at 928-524-4050 and ask for Detective Shreeve. To submit an anonymous tip, download the NCSO app or send an email to sheriffwebmail@navajocountyaz.gov. A $50,000 reward is being offered by an anonymous donor for information leading to the safe return of Jarrett.
