Winslow Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center CEO Bob Hall (pictured here) promotes and advertises for Winslow all over the world. Hall and the Chamber of Commerce recently teamed up with a mobile app designer to bring a highly interactive, free app to people planning to visit Winslow.
Winslow Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center CEO Bob Hall is excited about the latest way to connect to the world. Along with Interactive Travel Guides owner and developer Cody Edwards, the chamber is launching a Winslow, Arizona Mobile App.
The app contains pictures and videos of the area, as well as the history of many of the monuments and landscapes, including a beautiful set of drone captured photos taken at McHood Park and Clear Creek, and historical photos of downtown. In addition, it offers local hotel and restaurant information, maps and the Winslow events calendar.
The app is user friendly and offers step-by-step instructions on how to use it, as well as an interactive interface that is designed to take visitors through Winslow. The app is available through the Google App Store with a free download.
“You are going to be able to use the app on any of your devices,” Hall said, “Apple operating systems, as well as Android, your tablet, iPad, iPhone and or anything else.”
This application will further the reach of the Winslow Chamber of Commerce as far as advertising and enticing tourists from all over the world. Funding for these projects comes from a sales tax placed on hotel stays. Hall explained, “We use the two percent bed tax to fund our advertising and improve our tourist destinations.” He is responsible for placing ads in publications worldwide.
“We partner with all of the visitor’s centers in Arizona, as well as publications in London, Germany, Japan and many others to let people know about Winslow and what we have going on here.”
Hall’s efforts have not gone unnoticed or unanswered as he says there has been a steady influx of tourism in the area, and a greater interest in the world famous Route 66. “I have found that the largest retail outlets for Route 66 memorabilia and souvenirs are in Hamburg, Germany,” Hall said.
He is constantly working on ways to improve the experience of tourists who stop in Winslow.
The next major project, according to Hall, is a live camera at the Standing on the Corner Park which will run day and night, and feed into the Chamber of Commerce website. “You will be able to text your friends in Chicago, for example, and tell them to go to the website and see you on the corner!” said Hall.
Hall’s duties do not stop with advertising. He is also the face many see when they visit the Winslow Visitor’s Center. He greets each guest with a smile and answers questions with absolute knowledge. He often gives restaurant recommendations and directions to off the beaten path sites, as well as explaining the history of Winslow to tourists from all over the world.
You can visit Hall at the Winslow Visitor’s Center, located at 523 W. Second St.
