On Monday, Aug. 18, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) joined sheriffs across Arizona in a coordinated, statewide jail search. This joint effort underscores the strong partnership among Arizona sheriffs to enhance public safety and disrupt criminal activity in the state. The operation was supported through Operation Desert Guardian, which provides resources to strengthen border security and target transnational criminal organizations involved in drug smuggling, human trafficking and weapons trafficking.

NCSO committed more than 50 personnel to the effort, including members of the Major Crimes Apprehension Team (MCAT), criminal investigations, patrol division, detention deputies, patrol posse and Navajo County Adult Probation. The search of the Navajo County Jail was conducted safely and professionally, and no drugs were found during the operation.

Sheriff David Clouse stated, “Arizona sheriffs are united in our commitment to keeping communities safe. With more than 50 of our personnel working alongside partners across the state, this operation demonstrates the strength of collaboration. We are grateful for the teamwork and dedication shown by every agency and division involved — together, we are stronger and more effective in protecting Arizona families.” The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to supporting statewide efforts that strengthen border security, dismantle criminal organizations, and ensure community safety across Arizona.
