The first weekend of April the community came together to raise money for Alice’s Place, the local domestic violence center in Winslow.
The fundraiser was a murder mystery dinner with the townspeople, and a few visitors as well, portraying characters from a fictional Wild West scene in an effort to solve the mystery of a deputy shot down in a saloon.
The sold-out event featured a potluck dinner by Big T Bar-B-Que and side dishes donated by participants and the Winslow Chamber of Commerce.
Participants also purchased raffle tickets for a 50/50 pot split raffle in which the winner was awarded $326. He chose to donate $113 of that back to the cause.
The entertaining evening capped with Winslow’s Patti Kirk taking home an award for winning the game. Kirk was assigned as the ‘killer,’ and was not discovered by her group.
Event organizer Heather Pruitt said the fundraiser was able to bring in approximately $1,400 for Alice’s Place. She hopes to host another murder mystery dinner in the fall.
