Named one of the Seven Wonders of the World 2020 by Conde Nast Traveler, Arizona’s Meteor Crater is now open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. The crater is located near Winslow just off of Interstate 40 and the historic Route 66. Meteor Crater is the best-preserved meteorite impact site on Earth. Approximately 50,000 years ago a meteor impacted the earth creating this awe-inspiring crater that is 550-feet deep and almost a mile wide in diameter. Meteor Crater is the first impact site conclusively proven to have been caused by a meteor and it has changed the way we think about the planet and stars. All exhibits and features will be open including daily tours that provide a fun, educational and interactive experience to learn about this unique site. An RV park situated on the site is open as well, and is a beautiful place to camp and enjoy one of the finest star and sky shows in the Southwest.
