By Naomi Hatch The Taylor Town Council awarded a contract of about $43,000 to McCauley Construction last week for an Americans with Disabilities Act improvements project and playground equipment, and handicapped parking and sidewalks at Freeman Park and Taylor East Ball Park. Community Development Block Grant funding will pay for the improvements. Seven contractors attended the pre-bid meeting, and four bids were received. The low bidder was McCauley Construction at approximately $43,000, “which was lower than we anticipated,” said Town Manager Gus Lundberg. Because the bid was lower than anticipated, it will allow the town to purchase more playground equipment, for which they are in the process of getting quotes. Lundberg said that they hope to have the equipment installed late this spring. A motion to award the contract to McCauley Construction passed unanimously.
