Mary Simmons
Mary Simmons, 95, died Jan. 29, 2020, in Glendale. Known as “Gran” to several generations. Born in Texarkana, Texas, to L. E. and Birdie (Worley) Burgett, Mary moved to Winslow as a young child. She was active in the community throughout her life. Many friends of her grands and greats have fond memories of stopping by for cinnamon toast on their way to school.
Survivors include daughter, Jan Johnson; sons, Dan Simmons and Arden McRae; grandchildren, Mark and Rod Chavez, Jeremy and Jesse Johnson, Barbara Carmody, Mickie Baca, Michelle Simmons, and Natalie Barrios; great-grandchildren, Taylor Baca, Mariah Flickinger, Autumn Carmody, Laine Chavez, Jason and Justin Johnson, and Kody and Carly Barrios; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry “Doc” Simmons; a daughter, Gale Williams; and brothers Tommy and Billy Jack Burgett.
Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation of Sun City handled the arrangements.
