I have lived my entire life in Winslow. I graduated from WHS in 1979. I attended college and chose to return as a certified math teacher and dedicated 15 years to teaching and coaching before I became principal of WJHS until retirement from WUSD No. 1. After that, I worked at both the post office and the railroad. My wife, Lisa Cavin MacLean, and I raised our family here. We have no plans to leave our beloved home town. I am invested here and would like to help Winslow move toward a brighter future. All I want to do is help our town “grow and thrive, not just survive.” I have no “hidden agendas” and am running only because I think my familiarity with Winslow and my experiences here will help. When people ask me, “why would you want to do this now? You’re retired.” I simply say, “that is exactly why I would like to try and help.” I now have the time to dedicate myself to serving our community. I really want people to want to live here! The estimated median household income in Winslow is below $43,000. We need jobs here! Not minimum wage jobs, but jobs with higher salaries and benefits. We have the resources necessary to be attractive to potential businesses. We can talk about affordable land, water, transportation, etc…but my favorite resource here is the people. The people of Winslow are our greatest asset! I don’t want to promise anything to you other than I will do my best for our town. Most of you know me and I hope you see me as a man of integrity who you can trust to always do the right thing. Please vote “Jim MacLean” for city council. Allow me the opportunity to work for you and for Winslow.
