Joe’s favorite saying was “You can’t make memories sitting on the couch.” He spent many happy hours hunting, fishing and hiking, in the company of his wife, kids and grandkids, but his outdoor life would not have been the same without his numerous “hunting brothers.”

He carried on that same dedication in his work with the BNSF. His thirst for knowledge and willingness to eagerly pass that on to his co-workers is just one reason he was admired by his “Team” as he called them. Even while recuperating at home from his injury, he spent many hours on the phone helping to prepare one of his “Team” for an upcoming exam. And who could forget Joe starting the day with the “Quote of the Day.”
