Lamar Wheeler was born on Nov. 2, 1953, in Ganado, and he passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on the Navajo Reservation, Lamar spent his early years in Polacca, on the Hopi Reservation, where his family were Indian traders. He later attended school in Holbrook, graduating from Holbrook High School in 1971.
He is survived by his five siblings, six children, 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Lamar’s memory will live on through them, and through all who were blessed to know him.
A memorial service celebrating Lamar’s life will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 8, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2618 N. Lindsay Road in Mesa. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
