The Lady Wildcats have five wrestlers compete in the Division II Section III tournament held in Winslow on Saturday. The Ladies were vying for a top-four finish in their respective weight classes in order to qualify for a spot in the state meet to be held in two weeks.
As a team, Joseph City placed 17th in the 21 sectional team field with 7 points.
Unfortunately, none of the five ladies competing qualified for the state tournament. Brooklyn Valdez competing in the 100-pound class went 0-2. Madison Faulkner at 107-pounds went 1-2. Baylee Petersen at 114-pounds went 2-2. Brooklyn Petersen at 126-pounds went 3-2, earning the team’s 7 points but she was just short of state qualifying. Lena Haddox at 145-pounds went 2-2 in her matches.
Joseph City’s girls wrestling program came to a close for this season. Their boys team will compete next Saturday in their sectional meet also held in Winslow.
