The holiday layoff didn’t have much of an impact on the Lady Wildcats as they returned to action with two solid wins and one very large blowout victory last week.
They began the three-game stretch with a 47-26 home-court win over Veritas Prep on Wednesday. The Cats held the visitors to just a single point in the first quarter and controlled the game the rest of the way. April Neil led the team in scoring with 13; Kate Edwards added 12; Gabrielle Jesmer, 8; Brenlee Hutchens, 4; Ava Neil, 4; Kadence Armstrong, 2; and Amber Neil added a single point.
Thursday night they were in Hayden where they cruised to a 59-13 road win. A strong first quarter led to a 12-point lead. They held the Lobos to just four points for the rest of the game. Neil netted 22; Armstrong, 14; Jesmer, 8; Cyerra Yazzie, 6; Edwards, 5; Hutchens, 2; and Neil added 2.
Their third and final game of the week was not worth the trip to Superior where they dominated the Lady Panthers 67-9.
Joseph City enters this week ranked second overall in the 1A rankings with a 7-1 regular season record. They are 15-5 overall.
They have two games slated for this week including; a trip to Cibecue on Tuesday followed by a second road trip to Scottsdale Prep on Saturday. Next Tuesday they will host Williams which will be a matchup of two top-ten teams.
