Another year and more wins piling up for the Lady Wildcats who won both their games with ease during the week. Hosting Camp Verde on Monday, they crushed the visitors 83-19, then had a little closer game with visiting Sanders on Wednesday in a 67-42 win.
Monday’s game with the Cowboys saw Joseph City pour in 30 points in the first eight minutes against the overmatched Camp Verde team. By halftime the score was 53-10. The Cats didn’t let off the game in the third, scoring another 20 points, in the big win.
Audrey Neill led the way in scoring with 26 points. Amber Neill added 21; Raylee Fish, 12; McKenzie Jesmer, 10; Tori Beatty, 7; Lileah Kinlicheenie, 4; and Kaci Palmer added 3.
Wednesday’s game had the Cats drop 21 first quarter points against the Pirate’s 1-2-2 zone. Camp Verde Valley trailed 36-24 at the break. Joseph City gradually pulled away in the third, and fourth quarters to win the game by a comfortable 25 points.
Only five players scored for the Wildcats, but when the Neill sisters combined for 45 points, they didn’t need much help. Audrey netted 29 and Amber had 16. Beatty added 10; Palmer, 6; and McKenzie Jesmer had 6. Audrey Neill also pulled down 15 boards and McKenzie Jesmer grabbed 10 rebounds.
With the two wins the Wildcats improved their overall record to 17-2, and their overall record is 8-1. This week they will more than likely not be tested much. Tuesday, they travel to Mayer. Thursday is a home game with Williams and Friday they make a trip to Seligman. Next week the team will host Mogollon on Tuesday.
