Just Cruisn Car Show

The Just Cruis’n Car Club of Winslow is gearing up to bring its annual event to town. This year marks the 24th year of the successful gathering. Car Club President, TJ Scofield said, “This event brings about 200 car entries each year, this year we are hoping for even more.”

In addition to the cars, the show also features a cackle fest, burnout contest, vendors and a poker run. To show a car, the fee is $30, all events are included however participants in the burnout do not have to be entered into the show. The burnout contest takes place on First Street, which will be barricaded to other traffic.

“The burnout contest is Friday night, Oct. 5,” Scofield said. “It is immediately following the cackle fest and usually starts around 7 p.m.” There are prizes associated with the burnout, which is open to anyone to enter. “We award $1,000 in all. The overall winner gets $400, first place $300, $200 for second place and $100 for third. It’s a fun feature that brings out hundreds of spectators. Anyone can come and watch, and there is no admission charge.” This year, following the burnout, Holbrook band Dirty White Boys will be performing at the Route 66 Plaza on Second Street.

The show also features a poker run that is free to car show entrants. It begins at 4 p.m. on Friday evening at the stoplight at Williamson Avenue and Second Street. The five stops are the Winslow Regional Airport, the 9/11 Remembrance Park on East Second Street, Winslow Ford, located at 840 Mike’s Pike Blvd., a yet to be determined stop on the west side of town and culminating at Harley Hendricks Realty, located at 201 W. Second St.

Vendors will also be featured for the entire event. Those will be located in the Route 66 Plaza.

The Just Cruis’n Car Club donates to various charities throughout the year and there will be raffle tickets available for purchase at the event. “We will be doing a 50/50 raffle,” said Scofield, and we will likely be donating that money to benefit students at Winslow High School in George Rockwell’s name. Rocky was a great influence to so many of us and part of the reason we are in to cars. He was everyone’s favorite teacher.”
