My name is Judy Howell. I moved to Winslow in 1976 with my husband and two children. I have owned and operated two businesses since that time. I also became involved in community projects and was one of the original members of the Standing on the Corner Park committee. I also became interested in city government. I served on the Winslow Planning and Zoning commission for eight years before running for city council. I have served 16 years on the council. During my time on the council, I worked hard and succeeded in obtaining an indoor animal control shelter, complete with head and air conditioning for our four-legged friends. I worked to obtain a dog park with exercise equipment. I care about Winslow and my goal is to make Winslow the active, vibrant community I moved to in 1976. If reelected, I will work to promote growth with a mixture of small, local businesses and large businesses, affordable housing, well maintained streets and sidewalks, weed free vacant lots and no vacant buildings on Second or Third streets. This can be done by encouraging citizens and new businesses to upgrade the older buildings or tear them down and build new ones on Second and Third streets. Winslow has a great asset in Route 66. We are a part of the history of Route 66, so let’s show it off. We have the Standing on the Corner Park, La Posada Hotel, 9/11 Memorial Park and a great new dog park with doggie exercise and play equipment. Let’s show them off. Promote, promote, promote. With everyone in the community working together, we can make Winslow the best little city in Arizona.
