Josephine “Toti” Salazar, 90, was born on Dec. 15, 1931. She entered into rest on Dec. 10, 2022. “Grandma Toti” passed away at her home surrounded by family who loved and adored her greatly. Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, at Madre De Dias Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Desert View Cemetery. Grandma Toti was born in Winslow to Francisco and Clotilde Mata. She was married to the love of her life on Aug. 30, 1952, Leo. R Salazar. Together they raised a family of four sons and many grandchildren. Her husband, her sons and her family were her everything in this lifetime. She worked as a Harvey Girl at the Painted Desert Inn in the mid to late 40’s, at about age 15. She was very proud to be “one of them girls,” in her crisp white gown. She also worked at the Naglewood Plant. Many friends and family remember her for all the years she worked at Circle K. She had many customers who came to know her as family and looked forward to seeing her daily. She loved her Arizona Cardinals and was a loyal fan of Larry Fitzgerald. Grandma loved listening to Mexican music and dancing. She completed her word searches daily and she had one of the largest and oldest doll collections. Grandma absolutely loved her family. She loved spending time with them and made serving and loving her family her lifelong mission. Everyone called Grandma Toti, “grandma.” She is survived by three of her loving sons, Francisco “Pancho” Salazar (Elena), Joe M. “Yogi” Salazar (Priscilla), and Raul M. Salazar (Barbara); and two sisters, Esther and Carmen. Grandma Toti leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who love her and will miss her dearly. Grandma Toti was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leo R. Salazar Sr.; her oldest son, Leo M. Salazar Jr.; her grandson, Milton Salazar; her parents, Francisco and Clotilde Mata; seven brothers and two sisters. Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow handled the arrangements.
