Joseph Asiano Acosta passed away on June 19, 2025, in Snowflake. He was 80. Joseph was born on March 28, 1945, in Holbrook, to his parents, Clement and Martha Acosta.
Joe lived in Holbrook and worked at the Powwow Trading Post, which he loved very much. He married Lucy Sample Acosta and had two lovely kids, Mark and Desiree. They then moved to Bagdad, where he worked in the Copper Mines for many years. He moved to his wife’s hometown of St. Johns, Ariz., where he worked for the St. John’s Unified School District and eventually retired from Apache County.
Joe always had a smile on his face and conversation for anyone. If you ever had a conversation with Joe, I’m sure he asked where his shooters are. Joe will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Joe is survived by his children, Mark Acosta (Kathy), Desiree Acosta and David Warner; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Benny, Henry and Veronica.
He was preceded in death by wife, Lucy Sample Acosta; parents, Clement and Martha Acosta; and siblings, Carol and Marion.
