Jean Christensen Ashton, 74, passed away peacefully at home in Scottsdale, on Dec. 31, 2025. Born in San Diego and raised in Phoenix, Jean lived a life rooted in faith, creativity, and devotion to family. She was a loving wife, mother of seven children, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Known for her singing, sewing, healing touch and spunky spirit, Jean uplifted countless lives through service, kindness, and unwavering love. Her warmth and creativity will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, David Reed Ashton; her seven wonderful children, Emily, George, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Paul, Hannah (Sal) Cepeda and Marianne (Kenton) Ogg; 12 very loved grandchildren, and four cherished great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 23, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6840 E. Gold Dust Avenue, Scottsdale, with viewing one-hour prior to services. Interment will occur at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the R.V. “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
